The Challenge
Following a change in regulations that required a higher level of control for those accessing the airside environment, Wellington Airport needed a system that would meet the standards and streamline their existing process – with a 2.5 week deadline.

The Solution
AIRDAT’s ‘Onboard’ system provided Wellington with everything they needed. Whilst our development teams worked to implement an integration with the New Zealand Governments Vehicle Identification Database, our project team helped configure the assurance system & workflow. The team at Wellington were also trained and ready to utilise the system from day one.
With a bespoke vehicle ID integration added for Wellington, Onboard provides greater control and security for their airside operations.
VISA was enabled to allow security and operations to scan the all-new vehicles permits created in Onboard with an embedded secure QR code to validate access and raise any defects.
Our development team worked around the clock to ensure a new bespoke integration with ‘CarJam’ would bring back vehicle data for users based on a number plate entry.
Our project team worked with Wellington directly to establish a workflow and build their assurance system, whilst training users ready for launch.

The Result
The project was delivered successfully, on-budget and within the tight timescale. Following assurance sign off, applicants could add their fleet items just using a licence plate ID because of our integration work and Wellington achieved a higher level of control of those accessing airside, consequently contributing to a positive CAA compliance audit. The airport continues to utilise AIRDAT Onboard today.
