Canterbury, 18th September 2023 – AIRDAT is delighted to announce a pioneering and inspiring transition to become an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). This landmark change illustrates AIRDAT’s commitment to its employees and will positively impact the company and its team for years to come.

On September 6th 2023, after more than 17 years of solid growth, Founder and CEO, Charles Cardwell transferred 100% of his shareholding to an EOT, creating a strong legacy for the next phase of growth and commitment to AIRDAT employees.

We are extremely proud of our achievements over the past 17 years, seeing the business grow both financially and in terms of our team, products and client numbers whilst successfully navigating challenges such as the impact of the global pandemic on our industry.  This EOT transition is a natural progression and reflects our core company values. The EOT will ensure the business remains in the very best hands – those of the AIRDAT team who continue to drive the business forward each day with their passion for the vision and values of the company. – Charles Cardwell, Founder AIRDAT

By promoting the existing AIRDAT team, the business will be run by a new Board of Directors, ensuring a smooth transition and propelling the business forward during this exhilarating new stage of expansion.

Key highlights of AIRDAT’s transition to EOT:

  • Pledging excellence: The entire AIRDAT team is dedicated to consistently improving the business and its services. Maintaining the drive and passion to make things better is what helps AIRDAT support its clients and is a key component in the company’s success. Shared ownership will further enhance the company culture of commitment, innovation and dedication to benefit both AIRDAT’s clients and its people.
  • Building a sustainable future: The new EOT structure means AIRDAT employees are beneficiaries of the trust, giving them greater involvement in the business and the opportunity to shape its future. By fostering a culture of ownership and togetherness, AIRDAT aims to create a sustainable business model that will shape the landscape of aviation training and consultancy for years to come.
  • Collective Prosperity: As trust beneficiaries, AIRDAT employees with 12 months of continuous service will share in the future financial success of the business.

Introduced by government legislation in 2014, Employee Ownership Trusts recognise the impact of employee ownership on growth and stability, and the change marks an evolution in AIRDAT’s corporate journey and a departure from traditional business ownership. Other well-known Employee Owned Businesses include John Lewis, Riverford Organic Farms and Richer Sounds. Further statistics on the rise of EOT’s in the UK can be found here.
