Gatwick Lights The Way
Our man on the ground, Training Director Dave Perry writes about the goings on at Gatwick from his point of view.
Can it really be spring? The weather has been unseasonably warm and the days are drawing out and suddenly everything is coming to life at Gatwick For the Airport, March is the start of the major rehabilitation work on the main runway and the Papa/November taxiways. Resurfacing and new lighting will be installed throughout this period and will bring a major improvement to the maintenance and reliability of the lighting on the manoeuvring area.
The Airport ID centre has been very busy processing the vast amount of Airport ID’s and vehicle passes required to ensure the rehabilitation work is carried out with the minimum of disruption to the day to day workings of the airport.
AirDAT is providing Airside Driver training to the many contractors coming onto the airport over the next few months and also ensuring that each company provides a robust airside driving risk assessment to operate in the airside environment.
We will give our readers an update as the work progresses this spring
